Kappa Kappa Gamma has embarked on a new philanthropic purpose to support mental health and well-being; believing that mental health is a key part of health for every individual, and Kappa is determined to help everyone we serve understand and embrace the role of mental health and well-being in achieving their potential.
We are fortunate to have developed relationships with local partners who support our philanthropic focus in the local community. Our members can look forward to more opportunities for us to support mental health and well-being causes.
The Beta Xi Scholarship of Kappa Kappa Gamma is now open to Beta Xi Actives and Alumnae to assist with their education.
Applications for the Beta Xi Scholarship are due on March 1, 2023 for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Donations are welcomed year-round via our fund through the Austin Community Foundation
For the past several years, our Association has participated in the Rose McGill Holiday Sharing Program. This is a "family support system" for current and former Rose McGill Confidential Aid recipients. Each year, we are matched with two Kappas in need, known as "Holiday Roses". We do our best to spread some holiday cheer to them, in the form of gift cards and other small tokens.
Since its inception in 1997, Kappa Settings, our bi-annual fundraising event, has raised more than $400,000 and benefitted 25 local charities. See the 2022 recap, next taking place in 2024
In 2022, we sold 3,700 caladium bulbs to benefit the Lindley Dodson Scholarship at Beta Xi and other Association causes. This fundraiser takes place each spring and bulbs are available for pickup before Mother’s Day.
If you purchased Kaladiums in 2022 we’d love to see your photos! Email us at AustinAreaKappas@gmail.com.
"Due to a drought and the hurricane this year we are unable to provide caladiums of the quality that our customers expect. we will be in touch about opportunities to help out our beneficiaries."
The Rose McGill Fund originated with a plea for help at the 1922 Convention to provide for a young Kappa, Rose McGill, Toronto, who was ill and in need of support. Kappas can apply for and receive need-based financial assistance when life puts them in unfortunate, sometimes devastating, situations.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Austin Alumnae Association set up a restricted fund at the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation to benefit Kappas living in Texas in need of support during these difficult times. Since March 2020, we have raised almost $7,000 and have given 25 grants to 23 Kappa sisters from Texas. Kappas from Austin and beyond are welcome to make tax-deductible contributions to the fund and increase this available support for Texas Kappas in need.
The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation helps Kappas pursue life’s opportunities by funding impactful programs, including scholarships, financial assistance grants, member education, and history and heritage. Most recently, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation provided a grant for Talkspace, making it convenient to access mental health resource. The grant makes the service free of charge to collegiate members and provides a discount for alumnae.
